Vinyasa Krama Weekend Workshop with Debbie Mills

Vinyasa Krama is a specific sequencing of asanas using variations of movements and hand placements. It is initiated by and synchronized with Ujjayi breath. This comprehensive system of yoga, which encompasses pranayama and meditation, was taught to my teacher, Srivatsa Ramaswami, for more than 33 years by his Guru, Sri T. Krishnamacharya. The emphasis of this system is based on the parameters established by Patanjali; sthiratva, sukhatva, prayatna, shaithilya. The posture should be steady and comfortable, and the breath smooth and long. Krishnamacharya's focus in asana was on the breath or effort of life (jivana prayatna), thereby linking the mind and body within the same time-frame of that breath. He believed that it was only with this specific focus that the fullness of yoga asana practice could be attained.
